Why is Ireland such a good place to business?
Hello
there!
Thanks for
joining me again on my digital economy news and updates blog. For this blog we
are going to dive right into why Ireland is such a great location to business.
Hopefully this week’s blog will grab your attention….
So, Ireland
is a landmark for lots of global companies/FDI to set up in and here are 10
reasons why according to the IDA website as to why we are such a great little
country!!!
Exportation
Ireland has
a great network when it comes to exportation and has massive transportation
relations to Europe and the UK. Many industries benefit from Irelands exportation
including Technology, Pharmaceuticals , Food and beverages, medical
devices , and financial services. A notable statistic from the IDA Why Ireland is 72% of
total national exports (2020) were from multinationals in Ireland.
EU Membership
Ireland have been members of the European Union for over 50
years and have remained with steady relations throughout. We are a heavily
engaged country internationally within the EU and we have a massive support across
our nation towards our membership so much so that 83% of Irish people are
positive about EU Membership and 88% believe that Ireland has benefitted from
EU membership.
Home for FDI’s
Close to 1700 multinationals have based themselves on the isle
of Ireland. They support Ireland positively by contributing to our economy and
our society by means of direct investment and capital expenditure.
Economic Resilience
We are one of the most advanced economies and have maintained
a very high standard of performance even during the pandemic. Ireland is set up
for future situations through our underlying structural strengths and capital
investment plans.
Pro-Business
Ireland is an extremely pro-business nation due to our continuous
support for FDI’s. We have been ranked 4th most competitive economy in the EU,
12th globally and 3rd ranked globally for high-value FDI projects.
Irelands Accessibility
Ireland is a very accessible country from any angle due to
our daily connections by sea and air from Europe the UK and anywhere else.
Theres always accesses to transport and a well organised Airport right in our
capital. We also have countrywide motorway network connects all regions with
transport hubs and Ongoing public investment in sea, air, rail, and road
networks.
Sustainability
Ireland has built and continued to progress on a policy that
has three core objectives of sustainability, security of supply and competitiveness.
Ireland also highly backs sustainable energy sources. We hope to have up to 80%
of electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and a 50% reduction in emissions
targeted within the same timeframe.
Highly educated graduates and industry aligned education.
Ireland has a great sea of highly skilled graduates and that
have a base that highly support technology and science. A high focus is also
put on women in STEM careers in Ireland which is the future pipeline. Many of
the colleges and universities in Ireland are very industry focused and create
lasting relationships with those industries around them. They use these
industries to help guide and design their courses in order to produce the best
and highly skilled graduates as possible. Just to note also that Ireland is
home to 9 of the top 10 US technology and software companies are in Ireland and
Industry-focused research centres offer talent and collaboration opportunities.
International Talent
Ireland is a nation that Is extremely open to international
talent and houses a very skilled and diverse workforce and 9% of total people
employed in Ireland in 2022 are non-Irish. We are also the 6th highest
international share of workforce in the EU in 2022.
Quality of Irish life
Some of the most recognised international indexes rank
Ireland among the best places in the world for quality of life, satisfaction
levels, household income, education standards, health, and life expectancy. They
also say that Ireland has the 2nd highest quality of life in the world (UN HDI)and
among the highest life satisfaction in the OECD (Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development).
So, I think I have given a pretty good insight into why Ireland
is such a good place to business there are many more reasons why business
should be conducted in Ireland above was just a snapshot. For a very small
nation we are continuing to thrive and thrive as time goes on and we have a
reputation to succeed which we will continue to do so!
Thanks again for continuing on this journey with me into the digital world.
